How does Hospice manage pain?

Americare team members have in depth knowledge and training in pain management. Their advanced skills enable them to provide an optimal balance of pain relief and alertness as desired by the patient. Patients, in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team, determine the amount of pain medication most comfortable for them to remain alert and enjoy life. Emotional and spiritual pain can be as distressing as physical pain; therefore, Hospice seeks alleviation of this emotional and spiritual kind of pain as well. Hospice chaplains, social workers, and bereavement specialists are available to counsel individuals and families in times of distress.
